Extraordinary double events related to the fascinating World of the Dryland Sleddog Sport in the week end of the 22-23 Sept. 2007, in the wonderful natural amphitheatre of the Fusine Lakes Plains at the feet of Mount Mangart, in the same Area where the European Sprint Championships of 2006 have been organized by the well known organization of the International Mushing School ( I.M.S. ) managed by Ararad and Monica Khatchikian in cooperation with the Italian Musher Sleddog Sport Federation ( F.I.M.S.S. ).
Hundreds of School students, teachers and visitors have visited the Saturday’ s Trade Fair and Meeting having also the chance to drive personally sleds pulled by four wheelers on the green fields surrounding the Area. More than 60 teams have entered the Sunday’ s 23rd Sept. Dryland Race competing on the perfectly prepared 4 and 2 Km trails of the Fusine Plains. All the previous trail records have been broken by far. Starting from the 2 Swiss 6 dogs KART teams of RUFFA and KAMM and continuing with the BABY and JUNIOR CANICROSS runners on the 2 and 4 Km. trail with the winning teams of the little boy ( 5 years ! ) Sonny Spagnul, Giorgia Vidoni, Serena Muller, Martina Ben, Davide Zanier and Martina dalla Pola. In the Juniors Category the local athletes Claudio Muller and Camilla Richiello won with the International Mushing School Alaskan Huskies “Beaver” and “Sirrah”. The KART 4 dogs Open category has been won by the former Sleddog Sprint World vice Champion DUILIO DAPELO from Trieste, while the Nordic Pure Breeds Category has seen the victory of UGO DEL NEVO from Genova followed by only 2 seconds ( because of a unexpected late start !! ) by the Italian super Champion PIERANGELO PATRIARCA from Malborghetto. PAOLA ALBANESE wins the Female 4 dogs Kart Cat. Young Junior biker ALICE PETRONIO has won the BIKE JORING Jr. Category competing with the foundling dog “Leon” while the Seniors Nordic Breeds Cat. Has been dominated by the extremely powerful biker from Treviso, FILIPPO PICCININI with his wonderful Siberian Husky. Overall best time and winner in this numerous category, the super Slovenian ski jorer - biker EDVARD SCHUMET with his very fast Hound Dog “ Zoom”. The same Edvard Schumet wins also the “Queen” Category of Senior CANICORSS breaking the previous last year’ s record of the Belgian Sam Deltour ! In the Nordic Pure Breeds Canicross Category wins DANIELE CHIEFA with his Siberian Husky. SANDRA MULLER from Tarvisio with the I.M.S. Alaskan Husky “Brave”, wins the Females Canicross Category. For the fans of this All Nature Sport, the next big event will be the usual World Cup Sleddog Sprint Race organized by Ararad and Monica Khatchikian in the same area, in the first week end of February 2008.
