21st Boneyard Cabin – Trapper cabin

Today after having taken care of my dogs, I went with Gianni to the Elementary School of Tanana to meet the children from 5 to 9 years of age. I told them my story, adventures, sang my songs with their guitar and mainly answered to their endless but funny questions. Among them there were even 6 descendants of 3 of the 20 mail carriers of Balto's Race. It has been a very nice, important and unforgettable meeting.

At 3 pm we left, together with Sven's Team and the 3 sno machines driven by Elisa-Beth, Keith and Gianni the cameraman, towards Boneyard Cabin were we arrived loping underneath a mighty sun dawn, after only 4 hours of travel by dog sled, We passed by the cabins of Kallands where in 1925 the native Indian Titus Nickolai, who left Tanana as us today, delivered the medicines to Dave Corning. We didn't stop at Kallands because it was closed and we wanted to spend the night in a cabin 10 more miles downriver.

The trail was in perfect shape even when it crossed the Yukon from one side to the other on big chunks of ice, to avoid dangerous spots. Just before Boneyard we could see on our left side the first steaming open waters. It makes you feel nervous but luckily a native Indian from Tanana tought us how to avoid them. Tomorrow we'll travel some more 45 miles towards Ruby, hoping to find the Trapper Cabin, hidden in the woods in the left side of the River.
